Tuesday, April 15, 2014, LARUS Business Automation will open “LARUS Meetup 2014 Season”, a series meeting between professionals, managers, architects, database administrators and IT developers, oriented to explore new technologies, to share successful stories and to strengthen the sense of community among the participants.
The first meetup is organized by the Venice Neo4j User Group, a group sponsored by LARUS Business Automation and Neo Technology (headquartered in S. Mateo CA, with offices in Sweden, UK, Germany, and Malaysia), whose purpose is to spread in Italy knowledge about Neo4j, an Open-Source High Performance, fully ACID transactional graph database, developed in Java.
This meeting aims to share an use case about Neo4j technology applied to art and masterpieces by Van Gogh:
“One fundamental aspect of Vincent Van Gogh’s opera was his continuous research for colors and by modeling his journey as an artist in a Neo4j graph database, we are able to make new
inferences on different artists, cities, climates and other nodes that influenced the development of Vincent Van Gogh as an artist”.
“This case study wants to demonstrate the potential of Neo4j graph database to provide new insights in art and culture”, declared Lorenzo Speranzoni, founder of LARUS, “while at the same time start talking about the world of Polyglot Persistence, still quite unknown in our area”.
The meetup will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 7.30 PM, at LARUS Business Automation headquarter, via Monte Grappa, 26/A – 30171 Mestre (VE), and it’s open to all for free.
